Master Dance Teacher '16
 

My name is Philipp David Knapp and I am a graduate of the Master Dance Teacher Programme of the Palucca University of Dance Dresden. Since 2018, I have been the director of the Dance Department of the Secondary School at PALLC° - Performing Arts School & Conservatory in Porto where I am also active as a dance teacher and instructor.

PALLC° - Performing Arts School & Conservatory is a vocational dance and music institution in Porto, which offers, dance practice subjects as regular school subjects. Since the 2018/2019 school year, my responsibilities as a dance pedagogue have expanded and I have taken on the leadership role as coordinator of the dance department. In doing so, the skills I acquired and developed in my pedagogy studies at the Palucca University of Dance Dresden enable me to deliver maximum performance even under high pressure. In addition to my professional activities, I am currently studying the Mestrado em Ensino de Dan?a at Escola Superior de Dan?a in Lisbon in order to be recognised as a regular teacher in Portugal. I will complete these studies in 2022.

A special feature is the insight I have gained into the organisation and, above all, the responsibility I assume for the annual organisation of the Concurso Internacional de Bailado do Porto (CIB). In addition to the aspect of the competition and the workshops, the focus of the CIB is on the training of the participants as well as the distribution of scholarships for study places at professional national and international dance training institutions. Some important representatives of international dance training institutions, such as Tadeusz Matacz, Amanda Bennett and Steffi Scherzer, have already been recruited as jury members for the CIB 2021.

PALLC° offers a variety of exchange opportunities for students as well as for alumni from the Palucca University of Dance Dresden.
